Top Grossing Movies Not Hitting Online

Despite its timely release over Valentine’s Day weekend, Fifty Shades Darker only placed number two in the box office at $46 million, following The Lego Batman Movie at $55 million. Since the prequel to Fifty Shades Darker, Fifty Shades of Grey, was released two years ago, the franchise has drummed up a significant number of fans for its sexual and provocative content.

The response to the movie has been dull, as the story of the movie simply continues it’s prequel. However, individuals continue to talk and search the movie over the nature of the film, and its disputed topic of S&M.

Coming in a close second in the Google Trends graphic is Split, despite it’s January 20th release. Covering the story of three girls who are kidnapped by a man who suffers from multiple personality disorder. The latest of M. Night Shyamalan’s controversial movies there is no surprise that after three weeks it remains one of the most talked about movies.

Most notably, though, The Lego Batman Movie grossed the most its opening weekend, with rave reviews, yet was consistently the least searched and talked about movie within the past week.
